Big Red’s Newly Launched BRProtect Antimicrobial Microfibre Cloth is the First of Its Kind in Singapore

Big Red recently launched Singapore’s first antimicrobial, micro-fibre impregnated with BRProtect, an antimicrobial agent designed to inhibit the growth of microorganisms including mould, mildew and viruses, thereby reducing the risk of cross-contamination. In the context of the current global pandemic, Big Red’s innovation has been applauded as ‘significant’ in that it can effectively and positively contribute to current infection control measures.

One of the biggest challenges to effective cleaning, sanitation, disinfection, and ultimately, infection control is the potential risk of cross-contamination. Cleaning is intended to remove dirt and soil and reduce the number of microorganisms present on any given surface or object. Unfortunately, if cleaning protocols are not strictly followed the process can instead become one of spreading germs from one place to another. Unlike traditional cleaning methods that rely on copious amounts of hot water and chemical detergents to dislodge and remove dirt and organic residues, microfibre cloths can be used almost dry, with only a small amount of water or in some cases a sanitizing agent to provide the necessary results.

Big Red has pioneered an innovative solution to mitigate the risk of cross-contamination with the introduction of BRProtect Microfibre Cleaning Cloths. These cloths are physically impregnated with a long-lasting residual disinfectant that destroys microorganisms on contact, including pathogenic bacteria and viruses. These cleaning cloths are double the size of normal microfibre cloths.

The cloths are made up of premium weave and are eight times more absorbant than standard cloths. BRProtect physically bonds to the microfibres of the cleaning cloths where it delivers
continuous self-disinfection and thereby eliminates the risk of unintentional cross-contamination. These cloths can be used with any of Big Red’s other cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection products. The cloths’ self-disinfection properties are not affected by conventional laundering.
