What is antimicrobial surface coating, and how does it work?
Antimicrobial coatings are invisible coatings containing antimicrobial agents such as silver nanoparticles or biocides. They’re made to keep pathogens or disease-causing germs including bacteria, fungus, molds, and yeasts from growing or spreading for a long time. To prevent harmful microorganisms from developing and mutating on the surface, they use the notion of cellular disruption.

I understand that the coating can only be removed mechanically via means of abrasion?
This assumption is correct. BRShield is a chemically ‘bonded’ surface coating which means that once applied, it bonds chemically, at the molecular level with the surface to which it has been applied. Therefore, the only way to remove the coating is through physical abrasion such as scrubbing the surface repeatedly and vigorously with coarse pads, wire wool, abrasive based metal polishes and creams.
Can the coating be removed with household soap and water scrubbing?
No! In fact, regular cleaning with soap and water enhances the microbial killing power and longevity of the coating. As it destroys microbes immediately on physical contact, if the surface is left uncleaned for prolonged periods the dead microorganisms begin to clog and degrade the efficacy of the surface. Therefore, regular cleaning with soap and water is good and wiping and rinsing is better than scrubbing.
What about if it meets other disinfectants that contain 70% denatured alcohol, Clorox or Bleach based solutions or Quaternary Ammonium Compound based disinfectants? Will your coating be removed?
As above, BRShield can only be removed from regular or intense abrasion, contact with detergents and sanitisers will only have a positive effect on the antimicrobial properties of the coating.
